- I was born near the Blue Ridge Parkway in Southwestern Virginia and raised on a farm with my parents and grand parents. I started driving farm equipment when I was 8 years old and have driven many types of equipment on the road as well. I started driving a large truck (18 Wheeler) over the road in 1987 and was an Owner Operator for over 12 years. I am now driving as a company driver because of the economy and the head aches involving the trucking industry. I now train drivers in the use of Qualcomm communications and E-Book rules and operation of the system. I also give advice on operation of the vehicle when needed and the "how-to" approach and communicate with dispatch, shippers and consignee's. A driver trainer's job involves many things dealing with the industry.
